Rose Tea Party Bat Mitzvah

Rose Tea Party Bat Mitzvah

All large celebrations have been a challenge to plan over the past 18 months with Covid concerns plus state and venue guidelines for gatherings, and this Bat Mitzvah had to be postpones almost a year, but the family was able to hold a beautiful celebration for Rose. My role in planning this event was a little different than most in that I helped them plan virtually. I created a styled party plan, complete with easy links to order coordinated decorative pieces that the family to choose from, then the day before the party, I was able to be onsite for a few hours advising on the decor elements and installing the balloons.

The tea party took place after the Bat Mitzvah ceremony at at private golf club in Bellevue, WA. Rose’s family wanted to use as much of the patio as possible and they ended up with an amazing September day for the outside celebration. The gold club was able to create a buffet full of tea sandwiches and bite sized foods. The desserts were served on stacking tea platters decorated with faux greenery and roses.

On the buffet, we used a cornflower blue sheer table runner and then some fun tissue paper flowers tossed in clusters onto the table. The items were all labeled with a floral placard holder and traded beautifully.

The tea service and plates were all rented from Vintage Dish Company, who supplied mix matched floral designs of tea cups, tea pots, and beautiful plates. The company was great to work with and rental was comparable to other dish rentals, but the colorful plates effortlessly added a lot to the event style. Playing off the tea floral patterns, we mixed and matched the rest of the colors of the event.

Rose’s mom made the floral centerpieces with tea pots she collected from second hand stores and used lovely, but inexpensive flowers from Costco to make arrangements for the tables. To showcase the teapots a bit, she added a few vintage books under them.

Rose’s parents created the custom candle holder with her name in painted wood letters and then I advised adding some of the greenery and foam roses along the top.

I helped with a poster design in Canva Pro and then we made a simple balloon garland with mainly 5” balloons and then popped in a few clusters of faux eucalyptus and faux roses to tie it all together. If creating a similar design again, I would recommend adding in a few additional colors into the balloon garland. My initial suggestions were a nice periwinkle blue and some mint green to blend the pink and white with the rest of the mixed floral design.

In addition to the tea service, buffet and desserts, guests were entertained with a caricature artist and henna artist as well as a self-service photo booth.
